What is What is PPF (Public Provident Fund)?
A PPF or Public Provident Fund is a savings scheme offered by the Government of India. Started in 1968 by National Saving Institute of the Ministry of Finance.
PPF is the most basic type of investment, and the amount can be a minimum of Rs.500/- to a maximum of Rs.1, 50,000/- per year.
The Ministry of Finance, Government of India announces the rate of interest for PPF account every quarter. The current interest rate effective from 1 October 2018 is 8.0% Per Annum (compounded annually). Interest will be paid on 31 March every year.

Anyone individual Indian resident can open PPF account with nationalized bank or post office or some authorized private banks.
